Robert reviews the latest glasses on his YouTube channel, The Spectacle Factory, offering expert takes on all things eyewear. He's also the owner of an innovative optical store of the same name.

After meeting our founder, Will, he decided to try Even G1 on for himself. He shared his experience with Even G1 on his channel, as inspiration for his viewers' next pair of glasses - which we appreciated. Robert shares a similar perspective on digital glasses; he wants them to look and feel like eyewear first. He's a glasses lover with an eye for materials and design, while also being known to embrace innovative solutions.

Your store has a long history of embracing eyewear solutions. What drew you to Even G1?

The first time I met Will, the founder and visionary behind Even Realities, we spoke for quite a while before I realized he was wearing smart glasses. For me, that was the moment that I knew Even G1 was not just another gadget, but a genuinely wearable pair of glasses.

As a glasses lover himself, Will approached smart glasses from a novel perspective, designing Even G1 to be great glasses first and foremost.

First impressions matter. How was your Even G1 experience?

I actually reviewed my G1's in this video.

Once I got my hands on my own pair, I was immediately surprised by the level of comfort. They aren't particularly lightweight, but what weight they do have is well balanced due to the battery storage which is cleverly positioned behind the ears. This combined with the cushioned (replaceable) nose pads ensured that I could wear Even G1 all day without any issues. Plus, I'm quite sensitive, and so a good test subject.

Having experience with various eyewear products, how does Even G1 perform in terms of design, build quality, and user experience?

The flexibility of the temples (which bend a surprising amount thanks to the titanium/silicone construction), means that these frames will fit a wide variety of head sizes. The nose pads are also adjustable, unlike the most popular smart glasses currently on the market (the Ray-Ban Meta).

The frame shapes, especially the Even G1 A, are excellent from an optical perspective and make the lenses suited to almost any prescription.

Beyond the technical features, how does Even G1 enhance the daily lives of users in a way that traditional glasses might not?

I was impressed when I learned about their 'UltraFit' lenses, which take into account all of the fitting parameters of each person in their design. Lenses that are made in accordance with how the frame fits to your face make a huge difference to how natural your vision feels. Wearers are going to get an excellent standard of vision if they choose this option.

What features would you like to see in future updates?

I had the idea that it would be great to be able to overlay schematics or instructions for DIY projects like assembling furniture. I shared this with Will a while back, so I hope he implements it one day!

Do you see Even G1 impacting the future of the eyewear industry?

Our industry can be very slow to change, but I think it's obvious that glasses with the functionality of Even G1 are better than those without. There's no downside, so I hope that as more people learn about the technology and get to try it, the Even G1 feature set becomes the new standard.
